A heat pump is an extremely energy efficient way of transferring heat from one area to another. During winter, an Atlanta heat pump draws heat from outdoor air and moves it into the house to be distributed through ducts for heating the home.
In the summer, this procedure works in the opposite direction. Heat is extracted from indoor air and taken outside the house. The heat pump is now functioning as an air-conditioner to cool the home.
While a heat pump and an air conditioner both have a compressor, indoor and outdoor coils, and fans, the heat pump has the advantage of being able produce heat. Thus, you can have a single unit to provide both cooling and heating.
A lot of Atlantans are upgrading to these energy efficient systems. Call us to find out why.
